Welcome To CHEM 2B hybrid!!!

This course is entirely in person. If you are looking for the Chem 2B which has the lecture and discussion online and the lab in person, go back to my homepage and click on Chem 2B hybrid but it is not offered this Spring!!

Materials for the Class: (The text, the solutions manual, and other materials are available in the Science Learning Center.)  If you have taken Chem 2A at Shasta in the past 10 years, that text is fine.

                    Required Text:  General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry, McMurry, et al, 7th edition; Publisher: Prentice-Hall 

         ISBN 0321750837. I will also accept the 6th edition, ISBN 01360545015   or the 5th edition, ISBN 0131877488

        Recommended but not required – Study Guide and Full  Solutions Manual  The solutions manual is important to have!

Laboratory Manual:  Catalyst,   Cliff Gottlieb Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry  ISBN 0-536-93740

Learning Catalytics access – will cover first class meeting

Wi-Fi enabled device – If you don’t have one, please see me so we can make arrangements

Lab Safety Goggles – Must meet ANSI Standard 287.1 1989(can be purchased from Science Club on 1st day of lab; about $6)

Both are available at various online book sellers and the Shasta College bookstore.  They are much cheaper online and a good website is  http://www.directtextbook.com and search using ISBN.

There is an online portion to this class where you will find my notes, resources and online Homework.  The online portion of this course will be delivered over the internet using a program called Canvas.      I will do everything I can to help you.  Always remember NO FREAKING OUT!!  Freaking out is not allowed in my courses.  You just need to ask me for help.
